Government Extended Mining Debt Relief
Reeling under the after effects of debts, mining debt borrowers had pleaded to government for the extension of mining debt relief scheme; which has now got high nod from the state.
Acceding to the demand from mining dependant stakeholders, the government has extended the Debt Relief Scheme for mining affected borrowers of financial institutions to March 31.
The government said the extension was for the benefit of only those debt recast proposals that are pending with the banks or those which were rejected earlier, said director and additional secretary Mines and Geology Prasanna Acharya.
Acharya said this will be the last extension the government would grant. The final authority to grant the benefit in exceptional cases which have been rejected would lie with CM Manohar Parrikar.
