Maruti Ciaz has marked a record of sorts and clocked sales to the extent of 169 units, making a market share of 30 percent. On the other hand, Honda City registered sales of 41,072 units while Hyundai Verna made it to 39,568 units.

Maruti Ciaz has emerged as No 1 in the segment for 3rd consecutive year. In the 2018-19 financial year, the premium sedan has noted sales exceeding its competitors.

Ever since launch in 2014, over 2.56 lakh units of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz have been sold. During calendar year 2018, Ciaz had sold 50,759 units, compared with 42,605 for Verna and 42,045 for Honda City.

Despite of registering decline in sales for the fiscal year 2018-2019, Ciaz maintained its position at the top of the chart.

Maruti Ciaz premium sedan is priced from Rs.9.37 – 13.52 lakhs. It is presented in Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha trims; with the top end variant contributing to 48 percent of total sales. One reason for Maruti Ciaz’ success, is its attractive pricing. Top variant of Ciaz is priced similar to entry or mid variant of its rivals.

In August 2018, the Maruti Ciaz facelift was launched with a new 1.5 liter petrol engine with Smart Hybrid technology. This was followed in March 2019, by an in-house developed 1.5 liter DDiS225 diesel engine mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox.

The new engines offer best in class fuel efficiency and enhanced power and torque figures. The 1.5 liter petrol engine gets a more efficient lithium ion battery pack taking the place of the lead acid battery seen on the outgoing model. The new diesel engine does not get the battery SHVS tech yet. The new engine lineup will be updated to meet BS VI emission norms, set to be enforced from April 2020.

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz facelift also complies with new safety regulations with dual airbags, ABS, EBD, ISOFIX child seat restraints and high speed warning alarm; which sounds an intermittent beep at 80 kmph and a continuous warning at over 120 kmph.
